5 Style Secrets for Everyone to Follow

1. Pay not too much mind to seasons.

Well sort of – I mean in this cold NZ weather you sort of have too but I’m talking staples. Black is not a colour reserved for winter. Sweaters are not reserved for winter. In this wild, wild world where we can go from it being 5 degrees one day to 20 degrees the next, there’s no longer a reason to have a seasonal wardrobe. Investing in staples (one great cashmere sweater, one great legging, one great blazer, one great mini skirt) can last you all year long. It’s all about how you pair it.Pay not too much mind to seasonsWell sort of – I mean in this cold NZ weather you sort of have too but I’m talking staples. Black is not a colour reserved for winter. 2. a great coat is a life saver

There are days when you just don’t feel like getting dressed. In fact, there are entire seasons (ahem, winter) where you just don’t want to get dressed. Solution to this – when in doubt: add a coat. If you’re wearing a great coat (talking: leather, faux-fur, trench) – people will notice your amazing outerwear.

3. Say no to most trends – develop your own style

Always dress for yourself and no one else. Those shimmery sandals that looked cute at Zara 6 months ago, how many times have you worn them? Nada… Don’t buy something because someone else has it. Develop a signature look and stick to it, update it. Always wear clothes that suit your body rather than trying to fit in with trends.

4. browse

Browse social media, magazines, articles for pieces then go away and google them. Find different shopping sites that you love, know what size you are in what brand. Be confident in your choices and don’t be afraid to buy second hand.

5. shoes and bags – shoes and bags

Invest in shoes and bags you can wear on repeat; these two things can make an outfit. Rather than investing in a dress you will maybe wear twice – rent it and invest in shoes and bags instead.
